When Valleys Become Summits

Romans 8:18

For I consider the sufferings of the present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

This took me a while to learn and accept but that is the process of suffering. Whether it is you yourself suffering or being bystander to someone else’s suffering; the freedom and peace you will experience once you finally evict any fleshly connection to the pain and you really begin to put your faith in Gods power and accept His sovereignty, this is the only way you can ever experience calm during the storms of life.  Just by being a follower of Christ you can count on suffering at some point, it is expressed throughout scripture. Sometimes our suffering is caused by our own sinful choices and sometimes suffering occurs to remove things from us we would be reluctant to let go of, in turn causing us to fall off Gods course for our lives and His Kingdom causing us even more pain and suffering.

Those who choose to live as Christ will face trails, hardships, heartbreaks, be condemned and could even be persecuted. There is great hope through our suffering  because of Gods promises to do many great things for those who place their faith in Him. Through our weakness, His power is exposed. When our flesh fails us, when we are crushed, in darkness, in such despair that we don’t even have the words to call out to God, when we have no idea where to go from here; His Spirit never fails us, never leaves us and intercedes for us in ways that are, as the Bible says, to deep for words. This truth gives us a hope for a future we may not yet see but we can trust knowing He has gone before us, making a way so we can not only experience the glory He has yet to reveal to us but through us so many others can experience His power also.

To get to the summit of any mountain at some point you must trek through a valley, a lower altitude. Although at first glance the view from the valley is no where as appealing as you could imagine to be at the top of the mountain, but you soon will find that once you summit your storm that the true beauty to the journey of this life, lie in the valleys ….in those low places, because in these moments when everything of this world has failed you, it is then you can see how God reached down to where you were and carried you through.

If you look at your suffering through the Word of God you will always find beauty and peace in those valleys, this is because of the truth and promise we have from our God. The hope of the unseen, of what is yet to come; knowing that He works all thing for good for those who love and follow Him. His plan is to give us a future, even if we can’t see it.

With the future glory that is promised to all who put our faith in Christ Jesus, living as He  instructed and with the hope of what lies ahead for believers, I know all this to be far greater than anything I may suffer in my present.

Trust there is beauty and good in the valleys, even if you can’t see it at the time.

Always remember you serve a God who promised you a future!

You can’t climb a mountain alone, put your faith in the only One who knows the way to the  abundant life He has planned for you!
