Pot Heads

I made this super cute Pot Head this weekend.

It was super easy to make and I can’t wait to make more!

I had a lot of the supplies on hand, and the variety of shapes and sizes you can get terra-cotta pots in makes your creative possibility’s endless.  I have a brick wall beside my drive way and I want to make several to sit on the wall. This one here was a gift but I will be making my way back to Lowe’s to purchase some more pots this weekend!!!!

I used some leftover trim paint we had to paint all the areas I wanted white. I chose to accent with the pink because the flowers I had found to be her “hair” had beautiful pink blooms.

This is all the pieces once they were painted and dry, I did paint the face area with a flesh colored paint because I had some. I don’t think I would be a big deal if you didn’t paint with the flesh tone, your Pot Head would just have a more sun kissed complexion.

Here I began fitting my pieces together, as you can see the pots I used for the feet are different from the arms. It isn’t necessary to use different pots for the arms and the legs, I already had the pots I used for the legs on hand and thought it added a little extra to the design.

Here you can see she is all assembled, I simply took rope and threaded it through the holes in the bottom of the pots. I knotted the rope in the areas where I wanted the pot to sit. The legs are threaded up through body and joined with the arms bringing both through the hole in the head pot and securing there. I did use some liquid nail between the body and the head just because I preferred there to be no movement between those two parts. I would suggest doing this if you are making as a gift or if your Pot Head will be moved around quite a bit. If you are going to put it somewhere and it not be moved it probably would not be necessary, it just made me feel better about the structure of the project. ( The beads in the photo were meant to go between the head and the body like she was wearing a necklace but in the process of allowing the liquid nails to dry I forgot to attach them the next morning 😦 .

Here is the finished project with all that crazy hair 🙂
